On March 19, the local authorities in Germany made the decision to postpone the 42nd Oberammergau Passion Play as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

Since 1633 villagers promised to perform the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ every tenth year, so that no one in their community would continue to die of the plague. The villagers were answered by God and in 1634, the first Passion Play took place. This promise of the local people had been kept until today. This once-in-a-decade, 2020 sell-out event, will now take place in 2022.

Please note, trips in 2022 will depart two days earlier than the 2020 departure date (e.g. trips departing September 10, 2020 would depart September 8, 2022).*

If you are unable to travel in 2022, here are other rebooking options:

· Choose to travel on any trip, destination or date through 2022 without penalty on the land portion; the Oberammergau portion will be fully refunded.**

OR

· Receive a future travel credit for the full amount paid on the land portion to be used toward a TTC company (Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, Luxury Gold, Brendan Vacations, Costsaver, Uniworld or U by Uniworld) trip through 2022; the Oberammergau portion will be fully refunded.***

Please note: These policies are subject to change at any time and are not retroactive for bookings cancelled prior to March 16, 2020.

*If the guest selects this option, a new booking will be created for the same itinerary and applicable departure date (note: 2022 trips will depart two days earlier than the 2020 departure date), at the original 2020 price for the land portion. Please note, guests are responsible for any airline penalties or increased fares imposed due to trip changes.

**If the guest selects this option, the temporary change fee waiver applies to the land portion of all Oberammergau trips when a new trip is booked (for travel by December 31, 2022) more than 30 days prior to the original departure date. If the guest chooses a trip or departure that is more expensive than the original, they are responsible for the difference in price; if the trip or departure is less expensive than the original, a future travel credit will be issued for the difference. The Oberammergau portion of the trip will be refunded. Please note, guests are responsible for any airline penalties imposed due to trip changes and/or cancellations.

*** If the guest selects this option, the new invoice will service as the future travel credit confirmation. The future travel credit amount will stay assigned to the original booking number. To redeem the future travel credit, state the booking reference number when calling to make the new reservation departing at any time before December 31, 2022. Future travel credit will be issued in the value of the amount paid for the land portion of the trip and is not redeemable for cash. If the new trip or departure is more expensive than the original, the guest is responsible for the difference in price; if the new trip or departure is less expensive than the original, a future travel credit will be issued for the difference. The Oberammergau portion of the trip will be refunded. Please note guests are responsible for any airline penalties imposed due to trip changes and/or cancellations.
